Domain registrars
Dynadot
Bulk and auctions
Bulk registration, expired auctions and the fastest transfer flow I have used.
- Pricing
- From ~$8–11/yr for .com registration and renewal; auctions and marketplace fees are separate. No forced add-ons.
- Best for
- Domain investors and builders holding more than a handful of names who care about bulk tools, clean renewals and fast transfers.
Dynadot is where the majority of my portfolio lives. I moved there after getting tired of registrars that treat renewals as a pricing opportunity and transfers as something to discourage.
Why I use it
The bulk tooling is the real reason. Checking 200 candidate names, registering the survivors and setting renewal preferences takes a few minutes instead of an afternoon. Renewal pricing stays close to registration pricing, which matters far more than a cheap first year when you are holding names for several years.
How I use it
Everything gets auto-renew on, WHOIS privacy on and DNS pointed at the landing pages I run for names that are for sale. I check expired auctions weekly with a saved keyword list rather than browsing — that keeps the impulse buys down.
What it costs
Roughly the price of a coffee per name per year for .com. There is no subscription and no upsell wall; you pay for domains and the optional marketplace fees when something sells.
Who it is for
If you own three domains, any registrar is fine. Past ten or twenty, the bulk screens and predictable renewals pay for themselves.
What works
- + Bulk search, bulk register and bulk renew that actually scale to hundreds of names
- + Expired auctions and a marketplace built into the same account
- + Transfers in and out are quick and not buried behind support tickets
- + Honest renewal pricing — no first-year bait
- + Free WHOIS privacy on most TLDs
What doesn’t
- − The interface is dense and takes a week to feel natural
- − Support is email-first, no instant chat on cheaper tiers
- − Some exotic TLDs are cheaper elsewhere
